PAYBACK, the leading bonus program, and its partners will be launching the new PAYBACK app in June 2016, enabling a completely new shopping experience for its customers. The successful PAYBACK app has been completely redeveloped and now allows customers to activate coupons, collect points and pay using their smart phones. UMT United Mobility Technology AG (German Securities ID: 528610, ISIN: DE0005286108) will be providing the payment technology, which represents a key component of the new PAYBACK app. Starting in June, 28 million PAYBACK customers will be able to decide whether they want to continue collecting points with their cards as before, or whether they prefer to do so through the app, which they can also use to pay. "Our white label solution allows every vendor to combine loyalty programs with mobile payment and we are pleased to have PAYBACK as a pioneering customer in this segment," says Dr. Albert Wahl, CEO of United Mobility Technology AG, commenting on the launch of the new PAYBACK app.

The old PAYBACK app, which can be used primarily to activate coupons, has already been downloaded more than 8.5 million times. According to surveys, 86 percent of the app's users find the digital card attractive and 36 percent plan to use it for future payments. "Our service bundle, with coupon, loyalty and payment services, makes us more relevant than the big payment providers, which offer a payment function exclusively," says PAYBACK Managing Director Dominik Dommick. The first vendor to offer the PAYBACK payment function is dm-drogerie markt, with a pilot phase starting in June 2016. It will be followed in July by Real markets. Partners like Aral, GALERIA Kaufhof, REWE and Alnatura will be equipped with the new app in autumn. The solution is based on QR codes and, eventually, NFC technology. The amount due will be conveniently debited from the customer's account.

The issue of security was a top priority in the development of the platform. "We do not store users' banking data, and neither does PAYBACK. The data is processed by a certified payment services provider exclusively," explains UMT CEO Dr. Albert Wahl. This data is not stored on the user's smart phone either. "This not only makes paying more convenient, but does so without comprising on security," Dr. Wahl adds.
